Kew Botanical Gardens - Day 3

On the third day in London, I went to Kew Botanical Gardens while my family did other activities that were more of interest to them.

The diversity of plants was something I knew would be something fascinating. I had no idea, however, that there would be plants from all over the world that could survive in the climate in England. I also especially enjoyed the water lilies, cacti, and endangered plants.

London - Day 2

When we booked the tickets to come to London, we did not know that it was during the time of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. We were able to see rehearsals for the parade that will happen later in the week.

We also went to St. James' Park and saw beautiful flowers and waterfowl. To close out the day, we saw the road of Tower Bridge be lifted to let boats pass.

London - Day 1

Arrived in London. Compared to Scandia, there are a lot of people walking, biking, and using public transportation. A highlight today was visiting The British Museum. The wealth of history and art at the museum far surpasses what I thought would be there.

The Scandia-Marine Lions Club celebrated its 40th anniversary tonight. There was a lot of laughter, hugs, and good conversations throughout the evening.

Graduation

Olivia graduated from high school today. It is hard to believe that our homeschooling journey has come to a close. What a joy and privilege it has been to be her teacher and mentor!

Groundhog

The groundhog made its appearance today in the east pasture. This is not an animal we commonly see, so it was exciting to see it.

Prom

Olivia's final homeschool prom was tonight at the Dellwood Country Club. We both liked the natural area behind the clubhouse which had a variety of rocks and flowers.

More Migratory Birds

We continued to see more migratory birds this week - wrens, hummingbirds, and orioles. The colors and songs of the birds are so uplifting.

Goat

There was a sheep and llama festival at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo. In addition to sheep and llamas, there were goats. This one caught my eye.

Migratory Birds are Returning

It is so nice to see the migratory birds returning to our farm. Hearing them sing brings such joy to me.

Welcome Back from Thailand!

Sophia spent over four months in Thailand as part of her study-abroad experience at Bethel University. Despite the late evening arrival time, all of her roommates plus our family greeted her at the airport. Being encircled in a hug was just the welcome home she needed.
